顺着鹿溪河，一路走向黄龙溪川江村，便可在绿林掩映中，见到这座古老的堰坝，传说是明代修建皇坟时为方便用水所筑。由于官堰的修建，上游水位提高了2米，人们车水灌溉，庄稼长，万物生。这里气候宜人，环境舒适，长寿人越来越多。更神奇的是，官堰的修建使鹿溪河自然形成一个河滩和一条缓水沟，长时间水流冲刷，堰坝下形成了一个大水沱。洪水季节，长江的鱼群长途跋涉来到此处，形成“群鱼蹦官堰奇观”，这个天然鱼类繁殖场百年不衰。

The Guanyan Weir elevated the water level by two meters. W ith the weir, the Luxi River has naturally formed a beach and a slow-water ditch. The scouring effect of the river over time has shaped a big bay beneath the dam. In the f lood season, a shoal of f ish of the Yangtze River would sw im upstream a long way to this weir, presenting the spectacle of “a shoal of f ish hopping the Guanyan Weir”.
