体长：10～13厘米
体重：9～15克
俗称“十姊妹”。分布于低山、平原地带。它们常在竹丛、草丛、村落、公园、庭院中活动。雌雄同形，体羽一点儿也不起眼。主要以谷粒为食，喜欢集群活动，常集体光顾那些保存粮食的仓库，所以又名“偷仓”。在大春小春的收获时节，白腰文鸟的偷食会给农民带来损失。但在3—9月的育雏期，为了养育繁殖的两三窝幼鸟，它们也会捕捉许多昆虫，吃掉很多野草种子，算是为民除害，将功补过了。
