Emily Bronte，an English w riter，old sister of Annie Bronte and young of Charlotte Bronte.She was born in a poor priest's family.Having studied in the bad-conditional boarding school，and learnt French，German and Italian with her sister in Brussels of Belgium，her aim was to create a school by herself but was not realized.Emily was a shy，quiet and elegant girl who loved w riting poems from childhood.

In 1846，the Bronte sisters published the Poems at their own expense.Wuthering Heights，issued on December，1847，was the only novel w ritten by Emily.Jane Eyre of Charlotte Bronte，Wuthering Heights of Emily Bronte and Agnes Grey of Anne Bronte came to the readers at the same year.Besides，Emily w rote 193 poems in all her life and was regarded as the gifted female English w riters.

1846年，勃朗特三姐妹曾自费出版过一本诗集。《呼啸山庄》是她唯一的一部小说，发表于1847年12月。她们三姐妹的三部小说——夏洛蒂的《简·爱》、艾米莉的《呼啸山庄》和她们的小妹妹安妮的《艾格尼斯·格雷》于同一年问世。除《呼啸山庄》外，艾米莉还创作了193首诗，被认为是一位极有天赋的英国女作家。

Plot：Wuthering Heights（1847）—the story is narrated by Lockwood，a gentleman visiting the Yorkshire moors where the novel is set，and Mrs.Dean，housekeeper to the Earnshaw family，who has been witness of the interlocked destinies of the original owners of the Heights.

故事梗概：《呼啸山庄》（1847）这个故事由到约克郡山庄做客的洛克伍德所讲述。这个山庄就是小说故事的发生地。迪恩夫人是恩肖家族的管家，她见证了山庄里原主人们的交错命运。

In a series of flashbacks and time shifts.Mr.Earnshaw brings Heathcliff to Heights from the streets of Liverpool.He is treated as Earnshaw's own child.Catherine，the daughter of Earnshaw，and Heathcliff fall in love with each other as time goes by.However，after Earnshaw's death，Hindley，who is the son of Earnshaw，bullies Heathcliff and even worse，Catherine marries Edgar Linton.

Heathcliff's destructive force is unleashed，and his first victimis little Catherine，Catherine's daughter，and Isabella Linton，Edgar's sister，who he has married for revenging.He forces their son to marry little Catherine in order to take up Edgar Linton's heights.Soon his son dies，Hindley's son and the young widowlittle Catherine become close.

Comment：Wuthering Heights is a novel that is rich in symbolic significance.It mixes realism，romanticism and symbolismin the artistic techniques.Through the vivid plots and the depiction of typical character，the novel narrates the daily life and marriage in the English countryside which is greatly influenced by the outside world in the special set of 19th century.
